Trombone |
Raphael plays trombone and sackbut, composes and arranges when he can, and teaches. He’s currently studying for an MPhil in Music and Performance at Oxford University, having previously graduated from the University of York where he completed his BA in Music. Raphael’s been taught trombone by Mark Bassey, Dennis Rollins, Lindsay Shilling and Sue Addison. At York he was lucky enough to study and collaborate with John Taylor, as well as Julian Arguelles and members of his octet. He’s interested in any style of music, but in his playing is aiming towards jazz and early music, with occasional crossover between the two. He currently plays with The Blowpipes Trombone Trio and WorldService Project, with which he’s performed at the Vortex Jazz Club, the Bath International Music Festival, Queen Elizabeth Hall as well as other venues up and down the country.
